Single Storey Rear Extension & Full Internal Refurbishment, Northampton – Ongoing Project

The Client Brief

This project is focused on giving an existing Northampton home a complete update, combining a single-storey rear extension with a full internal refurbishment.
 
The homeowners wanted to create additional space at the back of the property while also improving the existing interior, rather than treating the extension as a separate addition to the house.
 
For our builders in Northampton, that means working across both the new and existing parts of the property. The project includes opening up the rear of the house, constructing the new extension and carrying out extensive refurbishment works internally.
 
With structural alterations, new construction and refurbishment all happening as part of the same build, careful coordination is important throughout. The aim is to bring everything together so the finished extension feels like a natural part of the home rather than something that has simply been added on.

 

What We Did

Work began by stripping back areas of the existing interior and preparing the rear of the property for the new extension.

To create the new opening between the existing house and extension, our team carried out the necessary structural alterations, with temporary supports and steelwork installed while the building was opened up.

Outside, the ground was prepared for the new single-storey extension, including excavation and foundation works before construction of the new structure could begin.

The project forms part of our residential refurbishment and extension work, with the existing property being refurbished alongside the construction of the new rear space. This allows us to consider the home as a whole as work progresses, rather than approaching each element separately.

Our project management also keeps the structural work, extension and internal refurbishment coordinated as the build moves through each stage.

This is still an ongoing project, with further construction and internal works to come as the new space continues to take shape.
