The Client Brief
This project gave our builders in Northampton the opportunity to rethink the existing ground-floor layout and create a more open, connected living space.
The brief involved converting the existing garage and carrying out a wider internal refurbishment, with the aim of improving how the home worked as a whole.
A key part of the project was to open up the kitchen and dining areas, creating a new open-plan kitchen and dining space that would feel more spacious and better suited to everyday living.
Rather than extending the home outwards, the focus was on making smarter use of the existing footprint. By bringing the garage into the main living space and reworking the internal layout, the property could be transformed without the need for a larger structural addition.
With both the garage conversion and internal refurbishment forming part of the same project, the client needed an experienced team that could coordinate the different stages of work and ensure the finished spaces worked together as one complete transformation.
The overall aim was to create a home that felt more open, functional and better adapted to the client’s needs, while making the most of space that was already there.
What We Did

The garage was converted into usable internal space, allowing the existing layout of the home to be reconsidered and improved.
Through our residential refurbishment and extension services, the internal areas were then reworked to create the new open-plan kitchen and dining area the client was looking for.
Bringing these spaces together has helped create a more open layout while making better use of the property’s existing footprint.
With several areas of the home being worked on as part of the same project, our project management approach helped keep the different stages coordinated through to completion.
The finished result demonstrates how a garage conversion and carefully planned refurbishment can completely change the way an existing home works without the need to move.
