The Client Brief
The homeowners at Larkhall Lane wanted to make better use of their existing property by creating more space at the rear and refreshing the home throughout.
1Horizon Design & Build was appointed to deliver a single-storey rear extension alongside a full internal refurbishment, giving the property a more practical layout and an updated finish across the existing living spaces.
Rather than treating the extension as a separate addition, the project focused on improving the house as a whole. The new rear space needed to integrate naturally with the existing property while the internal refurbishment brought the rest of the home up to the same standard.
As experienced builders in Northampton, 1Horizon Design & Build was well placed to manage both elements of the transformation.
What We Did
Work began with the construction of the new single-storey rear extension, increasing the footprint of the property and providing valuable additional space at ground-floor level.
Alongside the extension works, 1Horizon Design & Build carried out a full internal refurbishment across the home. This allowed the existing spaces to be refreshed at the same time as the property was being extended, creating a more consistent finish throughout.
By combining the extension and refurbishment within one wider residential refurbishment and extension project, the new and existing areas could be considered together rather than the extension feeling like a separate part of the house.
Attention was given to how the additional space connected with the original property, helping improve the overall flow and usability of the home.
The finished project combines additional living space with a comprehensive internal update, giving the homeowners a property that feels renewed throughout rather than simply extended at the rear.
