Our client approached us with plans to transform a dated detached property in Northampton into a much larger, more contemporary family home.
The approved scheme combined a single-storey side and rear extension, a two-storey side and rear extension, and the raising of the existing roof ridge by 510mm. Together, these changes would significantly increase the footprint while creating a more balanced and modern exterior.
1Horizon was appointed as main contractor, taking responsibility for the structural and external works through to a fully weathertight shell finish. Our team managed the build, coordinated trades and ensured each stage progressed smoothly, providing the client with one point of contact throughout.

What We Did
We began with the groundworks and foundations for the new extensions before progressing with structural steelwork and load-bearing alterations to the existing house.
The two-storey side and rear extension created significant additional accommodation, including a new integral double garage. Brickwork, blockwork and external detailing were carefully completed so the new structure sat naturally alongside the original property.
At ground-floor level, the single-storey extension expanded the living space and replaced the existing lean-to. A large glazed opening was formed at the rear, bringing more natural light into the home and creating a stronger connection with the garden.
As part of the wider residential refurbishment and extension, we also raised the existing roof ridge by 510mm. The roof structure was reconstructed and re-covered, bringing the original house and extensions together as one cohesive property.
Our project management covered the structural works, roofing, render, windows, external doors, garage doors and rainwater goods.
The property was handed over fully weathertight and structurally complete, ready for the internal fit-out.
